can't boot from disk or change settings??

I have an old Pakard Bell. I formatted the hard drive to clean install a new o/s after adding more memory. Now I can't boot to anything. In the boot settings I'm not allowed to change the order - harddrive is #1 and Floppy is #2. I keep getting the error - Invalid system disk..... I get that with or without the boot disk in.

How do I change the settings to load from floppy 1st, and get back into dos????

are you able to boot from a floppy? You can get a bootdisk from bootdisk.com
