got 2 win2kpro machines running & i thought i'd network them ;)
both are named & on the same workgroup.
got 2 realtek eth cards in them... the 2 comps are connected via a network crossover cable...
now heres where im totally lost now :(
i config'd 1 with ip:192.168.1.1 & other with ip:192.168.1.2
default gateways on both same as ip's
sub masks of 255.255.255.0 on both...
but its the rest of the settings that are confusing me i.e. the dns & wins etc...
i tries dns as 192.168.1.254 on both & i cant even ping the local computer never mind the 1 upstairs ;)
ping 127.0.0.1 works ok, but ping their ip u get nothing etc :(
am i doing something drastically wrong or is it the dns wins settings i aint set up right ?
please sum1 help before i throw the pair of them out the window ;)
