Armada 1750 - pressing f10 or anyother key does not get you into setup and the laptop won't boot from A or CDRom drive.

The BIOS is in a hidden partition on that drive, rather than a chip. I got the following from the HP forum (HP+Compaq, ya know...):
"The hard drive is missing the non-dos partition in which the setup software and diagnostics are located. This partition has to be before the boot partition on the hard drive so you'll have to use something like partition magic to open up the first 10 - 15 Mb of the hard drive space to install the partition and software (leave this area unformatted - zipulrich). In order to install it you'll need the Personal Computer Diagnostics v 10.39A at http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/Armada/us/download/7106.html ,and the Computer Setup for Portables v 2.01H at http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/Armada/us/download/8093.html . To create the partition and install the software, boot from the diagnostics diskette and follow the on-screen prompts.
