Warcraft III, memory and OS requirements

I just gave my my 11 year old nephew the Warcraft III game for his iMac, but he says he is having some problems running it on his Mac OS 9.2 with 128 mgs of memory. He says it runs very slowly.

He thinks that if he had the OS X, that would solve the problem, but I am not certain that a Mac Os 9.2 with only 128 mgs of memory would be able to comfortably run the Mac OS X.

If he did get OS X, will the 128 mgs on his current iMac be enough to run that operating system?

Or, does anyone out there have another solution to running something like the Warcraft III game on the iMac with OS 9.2?

Hi RoseSimone,

Minimum required RAM for OSX is 256, realistically 512 should be installed. With either OS9 or OSX.. add more RAM to the machine. 128mb is scraping the bottom of the barrel and it's not surprising is MANY things run slow.

I can't comment whether OSX would help because you haven't posted what model of Mac it is. OSX does not run on all Macintosh Models. You must have a fairly new model to run OSX.

Thanks!

Thanks, Buzz...

I sort of figured 128 Mgs wouldn't be enough. I guess it's time to get more RAM!
