Hi there thebrainsays, welcome to CTH.
We'll need a bit more information from you before we can possibly give you any accurate advice back.

What other operating systems (MS Windows version) do you have on the PC (dual/multi-boot?
What boot loader are you using?
Does the system actually have a floppy drive so you can use a Floppy Boot disk if we direct you to one?

Thanks

This is a Dell Inspirion laptop with no floppy drive. I have win98me and 2000 on cd but neither will even try to setup. I would just like one operating system whether it be 98 or 2000. Is it possible to create a boot disk on cd?

i don't see why not, it would be a boot cd, so you would have to make a bootable disk with all the win98 bootdisk programs and files on it. make sure the setup in your bios is set to boot from wither floppy, cdrom, hdd or cdrom, floppy, hdd. but then agian.. is it possible to format an ext2(3) drive with a windows bootdisk?
