cahnging cable connection back to dial up connection
i am using windows me, and currently use dialup to connect to internet (aol) i now have bought a diffrent computer from my brother, and the computer was set up for cable(broadband) the problem is that i cannot gt the settings to change from the cable setting back to dialup, i have tried adding a new location but it dosent work, it still picks up the cable connection even thou the cable isnt hooked up. it wont pick u p dialup connection. the only thing in the location box after i add a new location is the cable connection no dialup. i even tried to reinstall aol but nothing works any ideas? i have win me on the new computer also

Assuming you use Internet Explorer as your browser, do this: open IE (doesn't matter if you get the 'Page Not Found'), click on Tools, then Internet Options. Click the Connection tab, and see if Never Dial A Connection is checked. You may find some other useful settings to change there as well.
Apply and OK your way out.

that would work good if I was using internet explorer, but with aol. you dont use that, so I don't know what to do.
I called aol but they just told me that the cable connection wiped out my modem and to reinstall it, i tried that with my restore disc but it still wont work. i even tried to reformat but it still pops up with the broadband (cable ) connection when i try for aol to detect my modum. phone line is in and ethernet cable, is not even in there. I even tried to add a new location, but tnothing works i am begining to think aol sucks lol thanks.JoAnn |
