....the following. I need it to be like Notepad, only be able to color certain text when you want to, and have it stick. By the nature of these programs, which strip formatting, that probably isn't possible, I guess! I've looked around a lot tonight and tried EditPlus2, seems like a great program, but I don't think it does what I want.

I want it because I have another program, an abbreviation expander, and I found that you can't make the short forms in mixed case, but if you open the file in Notepad, you can edit it there and then it will stick that way. I liked that, and thought how much better if I could even "color" the short forms to make them noticeable to my eye right away.

Anyone know of a program I could use? Wordpad is no good because it doesn't seem to have the "save as" option I need.

I've gotta tell you, Dave, that seems like a heck of a great program! If I ever dab (and I do mean dab, LOL) with HTML again, wow, that would be so helpful! But I don't think that will help me, though I am going to search some more through it. I opened my file in it. There are so many options I'll have to be sure I haven't missed the important one, but so far as I can see, choosing a color there puts the corresponding tag in, and that's not what I need.

Thanks, though. I do like it!
