VB can be very tricky to get installed and working under Wine. I have seen that the older versions of VB like 3 and 5 are easier to get up and running, whereas VB 6 has given many people a fit. 6 will run under Wine it just takes a bit more know how so keep those facts in mind when picking a ver to install and run. A great place for doc's, read me, and how to's for installing and config for VB under Wine can be found http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?...&versionId=130
Also do you need to actually develop things in VB or just need VB runtimes in order for a program to run that uses VB? If so a good Linux alternative to VB is Glade. You can look into that by going here This may save you alot of headaches. Good luck and post back your results. PS..... I would have given you a step by step lesson on how this is done but I already have a rather wordy post in here and don't want to make any of the mod's angry with me heheh.

I don't need to develop VB programs so what I did is I just installed the VB runtime, MDAC and IE. The program worked the first time I open it (I was able to log in and save data). But when I run it again it returns "run-time error 80010108 Automation error" after I logged in. can anyone help me?

Ok it would be helpful if you told me what app you are running that gives you that error msg. Then I could narrow down the fix for it.
