Older pc at work - seriously messed up, Dell 486, 3 1/2 floppy, 5 1/4 floppy, cdrom & a couple hundred megs of memory not sure how much RAM.

Just want to use the sucker to run barcode labels - installed a printer driver that caused all kinds of problems, tried everything, reloaded w95 a couple times etc.

Tried loading w98 - made things worse, so, FORMAT C and start over.

Using the boot disks w95a and w95b from Bootdisk.com won't work 'cause it can't detect the cdrom and aborts the install.

the w98 bootdisk starts out ok, then claims it can't find device driver 'MSCD001'

so ***?

The pos is hardly worth the time, but should run a label printer ok.

Download the files to create a Windows 98 boot diskette from http://www.bootdisk.com A boot diskette made from those will have the required DOS CD-ROM Drivers (unless your Dell has some sort of proprietary CD-ROM drive interface). You can boot with that diskette and install either Win95 or Win98.
