Word 97 Problem

Hi, I'm having a big problem with Word97. I did a re-install of Windows 98SE. Now when I try to open up a word document it says"Cannot find the file(name of my file).doc(or one of it's components) make sure the path and filename are correct and all required libraries are avavailable". A Microsoft Office window also pops up that says "please run setup from the location where your originally installed the application. I've run setup over and over...same problem. Help! I've tried un-installing and re-installing Office 97 with no luck. Same problem. Can anyone help??

why did you reinstall win98se? Are the documents actually on the drive?

I reinstalled 98 on top as a repair because I was missing some files and Windows wasn't acting right. All of my other programs stayed and are working fine. My original operating system on the computer was WIN95. I have the CD that came with the original package of Win 95(Word 97). Can this be a problem??

I don't think that is the problem. Are you having problems with all of the office programs? or just with word?

I'm having problems with all of the office programs. My question is can I Install Office XP on my computer even though my operating system is WIN98. Maybe a new install of this program might make everything right???
