Cd Burning

I recently purchased several CD-RW 650MB(24x) disks,made by RITEK.My burner made by Asus (don't know model) is 24x10x40.When trying to write to it I'm informed that there is an error and the medium required is CD-R/RW.It appears it is not compatible.The burner is about three years old.This doesn't make sense to me.Any suggestions welcome.

PS. I've tried XP's built in cd writing program and nero and both return the same info.

Not sure if this is any help, but I had a lot of problems burning till I got a copy of Nero, since then almost 100% success. BF

Thanks BigFred for input,but as I said with my PS.Nero has already been tried without any success.In fact after my original post I tried the same cds on my wifes computer and I got the same message.Her burner was brand new last November(2003).So obviously its not a problem with the burners.Looks like I'll have to get some replacement cd's.But it still begs the question......Has anyone else out there had the problem with new CD-RW's.
