MS Money 2004 Planner Error

This is probably a long shot but thought I'd ask the question anyway.

Has anyone come across a problem with The Planner in Money 2004.

I installed Money 2004 on my PC (I was previously running 2001) and during the removal of 2001 (it's part of the installation process) it said something about not being able to register activities but continued and installed 2004.

When I ran 2004 it worked fine however, as soon as I opened my data file I got an error saying

A file needed to run the Planner is either missing or corrupted. To resolve this problem, reinstall Money and then reopen your Money file. There is no indication of which file is missing/corrupt so it's not very helpful.

I did this but got the same error.

I then removed Money 2004 and used Windows Installer Cleanup Tool to remove any installed traces and tried again but with same result.

I then installed it on a spare drive I have, which also had 2001 and the installation went through OK (no message about not being able to register activities) but as soon as I opened my data file I got the same error. I was hoping that if it ran OK I could just clone the files across to my main drive.

I've run the repair tool on both but to no effect.

I've also run the installation using a different installation CD.

Money 2004 is running OK apart from this and the Planner isn't something I expect to use but it's annoying to get the error every time.

Looking in Money/System I have found three dll's directly associated with the Planner namely, planui.dll, pfcplan.dll and pfplan.dll. They all seem OK. There may of course be other files associated with The Planner.

Anyone any clues as to which file(s) might be causing the problem and how I can cure it?

Thanks

Hi chris18, Money 2004 UK? If so, there is a patch for that error message here.

Hi AnnMarie

Wow thanks, applied patch and it seems to work.

I really didn't hold out much hope of getting a solution but thought I'd nothing to lose by asking.

Should have known that Cybertech would come up trumps!!

Thanks a million!
