Cant See Hard Drive

Hi,
I've been running my g4 tower a bit fuller than I probably should when I had a failure.

I've tried every sort of disc tools available (norton, disc tools etc.) to no avail.

I even tried to reinstall othe os system, but although I can restart from cds, non of the disc utility programs can see the hard drive.

ive opened it and checked the connections and they all seem fine.

im in africa now, far from any tech.

I have another computer (g4 powerbook) as well asa new ibook). can I use either of these to connect directly to the hard drive somewhow and at least resserect the data.

any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
many thanks,
leo

I have the same problem

On my friends G4 powerbook the same circumstances have led to the same problem. Full HD had become unmountable and invisible. At first Drive 10 looking thru firewire (from towerG4 in techtool pro4 edrive boot mode, ttp4 itself not seeing this HD) seemed to see it, repair it and allow mounting. However when i tried to backup files to another HD, it was painfully slow and then halted, crashing OSX(10.3.5)(You need to reboot your computer Warning). Thus force shut down and from this point nothing seems to be able to see the Powerbooks HD. I have tried Norton, Diskwarrior, Techtool Pro4, Disk Utility, Drive10 and VirtualLab, and the Disk Utility in Single User Mode (http://diveintomark.org/archives/200...ingleuser_mode).
I really need to get the data off that disk. Help! Somebody!
