Spybot-S&D

I have just downloaded Spybot-s&d after reading a lot of recommendation online. I already have ad-aware & spyware blaster.

So after updating, I click check for problems. There is one red entry.
Problem : DSO Exploit - data source object exploit
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows
Kind : Registry change

Details :
company : Microsoft
product : internet explorer
threat : security hole

Description refers to http://security.greymagic.com/adv/gm001-ie/

My Windows Update are auto-update. And my critical updates are up-to-date. So wouldn't this be already fixed by the Microsoft window updates? I just want to understand how this thing works.

So now I just clicked the 'Fix selected problems' ?

Not sure what version you have of SpyBot but the DSO exploit was a bug in its system. The latest version is 1.98.1 or 1.98.2 and I am not sure if they have fixed it yet.The way to check it is to remove it and see if spybot picks it back up.Either way it wont matter.

what could be happening is while microsoft is updating the registry, your spybot it just letting you know that something is changing your registry - Nothing to worry about if this is the case.

I've deleted the DSO Exploit and it appears again next time I checked, fixed/deleted it and it reappears. Now another one 'VBouncer' is doing the same thing. Both of them have been deleted/fixed a few times already. So, I just fix/delete them everytime they come out?

Hi TJolly, thanks for that forum.

I wanted to follow tb525 recommendation but this message deter me :

"Downloading beta updates will allow you to participate in the beta testing process. This will give you the chance to test new features, but also increases the chance that you'll encounter software bugs. Are you willing to risk that?"

That sounds risky, doesn't it?

If the 'DSO Exploit' & the 'VBouncer' are harmless, then I better just leave it at that & let Spybot fix the problem.

Thank you all for the replies.
