I have some .jpgs that went absolutely insane. If I try to open them in Photoshop, I get this error:

Could not open "File" because a JPEG marker segment length is too short (the file may be truncated or incomplete).

MS Paint, Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, and MS Photo Editor all give me an error as well. Has anyone ever run across this? If so, do you know a way to fix it? Thank you in advance!

Do you know if the files worked before?

It could be that they are corrupt or not jpeg files.

I'm having the same issue. I was able to download / upload just fine before. Prior to the "problem", I had uninstalled and reinstalled my Epson 500 all-in-one printer, as there had been a corrupted file and my computer wasn't recognizing it. Upon reinstalling, I had the option of having an automatic download of whatever is on my photocard, everytime that I scanned it...this was different from the original installation! I selected that option, and when it read my card, it built a file and subfolders by photo dates, but there were no images transferred. I then attempted to open photos from the card directly into Adobe and ProPhoto...that is when I got the 'JPEG marker segment ength is too short' error.
I downloaded a recovery program, but after running for 2 1/2 hours, I still didn't have pictures "recovered" or accessable. I hope someone can help! Thanks!
