Failed to connect to URLs?
For some reason I am having problem with the following.
www.oldversion.com ip 216.127.88.137 I can ping it, but cannot view it in IE or FireFox. www.victorinox.com This is just completely dead to me and I kjnow it should not be. I feel like this is a problem on my end, but I have no idea where to start to fix it. Any help is much appreciated.

what about
www.aimfilez.com I could ping this earlier, but not access it. Now I can not even ping it. What is the chance 3 decently popular websites(one being a business) would go down at the same time? On a side note I do not think of it to be of any relavence, but www.ownmail.net was also down for a good 6 hours tonight.

it is down also, as far as the chances of all being down, it all depends upon where their website is hosted also there could be a problem in the backbone somewheres. Remember, think hurricane
 it could be a possibility...

I could access the victorinox but not the others.
What's a ping, how do you do it and why? Cheers.

 Keith...pinging a website or IP addy shows if it up and running.Go to start> accessories>command prompt type ping www.yahoo.com or whatever...or an IP addy..and you will see a response...or not as the case may be.

Cheers Dammit,
Everything I read about it via a Google search only related to pinging via W95 or W98, never found any mention of w2k. Anyway, armed with the info via google and the practical advice from you I am now a wiser bloke! Matter of opinion I s'pose, but thanks, much appreciated. If my ex-wife had a comp, is there such a thing as an explosive ping?!! Cheers.
