Internet Connection Problem

I used to have DSL, but we got rid of it. And now I am trying to use a dial up service and I cannot connect to the internet. I have tried AOL and NetZero and neither of them can connect to the internet. Well I figured out that it is something wrong with my computer that wont let me connect. And I have messed with all the modem settings and disabled the connection to the LAN for the DSL and everything and I cant figure it out.

Could ya help me and list some things I can do to fix this problem.

1. make sure the phone jack you are plugged into works

2. make sure your modem works and is setup up properly

3. make sure "never dial a connection" under internet options/connections is NOT checked.

Try these then if still not working post any errors you receive while trying to connect so that we can better help you.
