Hi there. What sort of bootdisk did you use? By default a Win95 bootdisk will not load CD drivers. You should use a Win98 bootdisk (available from our download page) even if you are installing Windows95.

yeah u need cd rom drivers, get a good bootdisk at www.bootdisk.com, also have u set up the partitions u may need to use FDISK to create a partition and format ur new drive.

I don't think you can upgrade from 95 to XP. See kb292607 (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;292607)

I could be wrong, though. I've seen info on non-M$ sites saying you can use a full retail or OEM 95 disk as a qualifying media.

Anyone have any input on that?

Also, be sure to check hardware compatibility. XP doesn't play well with all other older hardware.

Ericg,
It's possible that your may be able to install Windows 95 without a Bootable disk, if your Cd-Rom drive boots at Startup.
Just insert the Windows 95 CD-Rom in the drive and restart your computer.
Choose Install or Setup.
Follow the prompt.

Wainui, Windows95 CDs are not bootable.

Everything I ever saw said no. Gotta purchase the full version of xp. Cannot legally upgrade from win95.
