I went to reinstall windows 2000 because I thought it would fix some problems I was having (not too serious). When the reinstall was almost done and in the registering components state, the progress froze. I waited a long time and it wasn't moving, so i manually rebooted the machine. Now when i restart I get an error that SYSTEM.SAV is missing or corrupt. I can boot from my other hard drive and look at the files and i can see the SYSTEM and SYSTEM.SAV files, and they are the same size. What should I do??
All help appreciated.
-Mike

Also, i tried all the automatic recovery stuff and it didn't help at all. Exactly what did you do. Did you try and boot hit the F8 key and in the startup menu select Last Known good configuration?

sounds like you need to completly wipe the drive and start over. Just get a win98 boot disk (http://freepctech.com/pc/002/files010.shtml) and format your drive.
