my computer does not connect to the internet for some reason. but when i plug the modem into the laptop the internet works fine. i have a cable modem, but for some reason all of a sudden it wont work on my desktop. it was fine then i just turned on my computer, the internet wont connect, it just wont go on to the internet. but i pluged the modem to the laptop and the net works fine! what is wrong?
when i click internet explorer, while the page is loading, at the bottom left it says "DETECTING PROXY SETTINGS" then it says "DONE" the page says"THE PAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED" and when i try to go to a differnt web site, a message appears saying "INTERNET EXPLORER CANNOT OPEN SEARCH PAGEt" or somthing like that. PLEASE HELP ME. what is wrong?and what is proxy settings?
