I'm using Win2K on an IBM T40p. Last night I was able to watch DVDs on my laptop with no problems, but this morning (after a reboot) the DVD player comes up and plays the movie, but the movie screen is blank! I can hear the movie's sound, but there's no visual.
I've been using the laptop for several months, with frequent reboots, and this has never happened to me before. Any idea what's going on?

Try to update your video drivers, and also all recent codecs, that might help.

I've already got the latest driver and codecs, so that doesn't seem to be the problem. It's very curious that this was working perfectly until this AM...
Any other thoughts?

Problem solved! Turns out that, when there's a monitor plugged into the back of the laptop, and the display is set to go to both the built-in and the plugged-in monitor, the DVD display only goes to the built-in monitor, even though the window itself shows up on both monitors.
I had it plugged into a docking station (and the laptop was therefore closed) yesterday, but this morning I'm working without the docking station, so the laptop is slightly open so that I could get at the on-off button. When the laptop is closed, it doesn't both trying to display anything on the built-in monitor, so there was no problem yesterday.
