Help! No Sound

Hi, First let me start by saying I am useless at computers,,,,so take it easy on me! I am running Win98ME and have just installed a Aureal Vortex 2 sound card I have had lying around for a while. I have Realplayer v.10 and Windows media player v.9 installed. My problem arises when i try to play an audio cd using Realplayer I get no sound output. If i use mediaplayer it plays fine? I have updated to the newest version driver for the soundcard and have gone through all the tutorials for realplayer. MP3 files play fine through Realplayer. Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks Ann-marie but I have already tried all those and still have no sound, is this a problem with the soundcard or is it a realplayer problem? Are you only allowed to use one media player to play back audio cd's? I am sure it is probably a tick box somewhere in need of checking but which???

Any further help would be greatly appreciated

Hi Steve, it sounds like a problem with Real Player to me. Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing it. Also make sure that you have downloaded all necessary plugins. If still no luck, you can search their knowledgebase from the link I posted.

Just uninstalled realplayer and re-installed it and i can now play my cd's!! Brilliant, thanks Ann-marie its shows that you can look to much into a problem when there may be a simple and easy fix!
