Windows 98 SE stuck in safe mode

I have a computer running Windows 98 SE stuck in safe mode. When I get in start up and select normal mode, it just brings me right back up in safe mode? Any ideas would be appreciated.

It's a Dell Premio????

Welcome to CTH Gabby, it might help if we can see which files start in Windows. Go here (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/download.php?hijackthis1977.zip) and download the latest version of Hijack This to floppy, unzip it and copy it to a new folder on your drive and then click on scan. Most of the files listed will be harmless and/or required so do not make any changes, just click on Save Log, copy it and post it back in this thread.

Follow Ann Marie's advice but, I have to ask this..

When you say it starts in Safe Mode.. does it actually say Safe Mode in all four corners or does the screen simply look like a safe mode start (large icons, etc) ??

Murray that is the problem I am having. my computer appears to be in safe mode but it doesn't say safe mode on the screen
