I'm running Windows 98SE.
Does anyone know of a way to track which files, and in which order, a program uses them when running?
I am running a particular program, and am trying to find out which associated file produces a particular screen.

I do not believe that can be done. Most screens require a combination of files and registry entries and temporary files. Why, Are you trying to bypass some security feature? :p Seriously, Just wondering, why do you need this info? Maybe there is another way to find what you need.

Process Explorer can identify running processes and give information, if you can understand it.
Programs such as Ashampoo Uninstaller will give you the info of what a program installes and uses. This includes Files and Registry Keys.

Thanks so much for your helpful reply. I found an downloaded Process Explorer, and it seems to be exactly what I was looking for. Whethr I will be able to understand the results of running it remains to be seen. Since I am trying to compare the actions of a particular program on 2 different machines, though, I am very optimistic about the outcome.
Thanks again
