Fairly often, there's a post asking this...

Hi
I found some free plans online for making a little wooden rocking horse. I would love to make it for my little one for Christmas. I've read thru the instructions, and I believe I can do this fairly easily. I worked in hardware for 18 years, so I have a basic knowledge of tools and how to use them. However, I am stumped about one part of the plans. They have a basic layout on a pdf file, and I have downloaded that. I am at a loss as to how to take this file and blow it up, so I can cut out the pieces accurately. Can anyone help me with this?

Can anyone help with this? I have never had the need to do this, so am a bit flummoxed as to how to go about it, I assume an image editing program would be needed. :)

TIA

you cannot use normal size paper for the pdf plans. If you look at the bottom of the pdf reader screen, it will give the size of the paper. The paper must oversize so 8.38 x 12.65 will fit.

either that or when you print a pdf there's an option to scale oversize pages using most printer drivers.

Hi Lufbra

You are still going to have a problem unless you have access to a plotter, the base of the rocking horse is 32 inches long, and it's 26 inches high, where can you print that?

However there is another option. If you use a capture program, like snagit, you can capture sections of the drawings, save them as .gif files, import each section into a seperate page of a word document, resize them to full size, and print the pages on standard paper and then stick them together. Voila a full sized plan! ;)

You can get snagit from http://www.techsmith.com/

Have fun. BF

oops, I did not look at the actual size. You are right, it will require a plotter or alot of paper and scotch tape.
