notepad.exe not found

I have another problem. I ran hijack this to post but I can't get to the saved log. I get a message saying that windows can't find notepad.exe
Can you please help.

Open Windows Explorer and goto the C drive, then to the Windows folder.

Notepad.exe should be in that folder.
Have a check for it.

What happens if you open the actual .exe file?

When I double click on notepad.exe a message appears. It says that program not found Windows cannot find NOTEPAD.EXE This program is needed for opening files of type 'BAK File'. Location of NOEPAD.EXE C:\ There are OK, Cancel, and Locate buttons. Please help Mr. Big
