 OK so I resized my boot partition for Win98 and everything went well except for now it is over the "8GB max" for 98SE and Windows will only load in SAFE mode and I get an "error loading winconfig.mng.
All I need to do is resize the partition to below 8GB alas.....
Stumped!!! I have Partition Magic installed but the program won't run and generates an init error 255.
I cannot just re-format the drive unless I can make a bootable CD startup somehow! Either way would be fine! HELP!!!!!

Welcome :)

It's easy enough to make a bootable CD.

Mpst CD Writing software will allow it.

Alot of HDD Manufacturers will produce an ISO of their disk utilities.

Hi Cheeks

Welcome to CTH

Actually you can have a larger partition, I have a 28Gb partition with Win98. But the HDD needs to be running in LBA mode. You're not going to be able to change this (if your BIOS allows for it) without loosing your data, as far as I know.

Have you considered downloading Ranish, (see http://www.ranish.com/part/ ) which is free and is used to resize partitions, to see if it will run in safe mode? BF
