View Full Version : Help!--"HELP" went away.

Running W98,any "help" button results in the following message box "Can not open the file: mk:@MSITStore:c:/windows/Help/windows.chm" ;also I can no longer access "internet options" under Tools or from control panel. All this happen after I tried to delete "The Sims". What hath I done? Thanks

Try shutting down/ restart in MSdos mode. At c prompt type in "scanreg/restore"
and go back a couple of days and it will reload a good boot that had no errors.

evet7---Thanks, I tried that ,but it didn't help. However your suggestion prompted me to go back and restore about 300 redundant DLL s that I had removed with a program that found them.That did work.I'm sure 99% of these are junk,but I'm not good enough to know which 1% to keep!I thought redundant meant there was another one that would work.But thanks again for setting me in the right direction.
