THIS IS A LAPTOP BY TOSHIBA RUNNING WINDOWS 98

I some how deleted a file for boot up and then I decided to try and format the hard drive and hit ERASE C:\windows and now I cant get to a c: prompt. It just tells me:
The following file is missing or corrupted C:\Windows\himem.sys
The following file is missing or corrupted C:\Windows\dblbuff.sys
The following file is missing or corrupted C:\Windows\IFSHLP.sys
Type the name of the Command Interpreter (e.g., C:\windows\command.com)
C>
I cant even hit F1 to get me to the screen that allows me to start with a c prompt or to start in SAFE MODE. SO I went to get a boot disc for 98 and now it is telling me that
NON-SYSTEM DISC or DISC ERROR
REPLACE AND STRIKE ANY KEY WHEN READY

Did I totally screw it up beyond fixing. Please help. School starts for me next week and I need my laptop.

Welcome :)

Download this file
http://1gighost.net/dosimg/boot98c.exe
Run it in windows and it will prompt for a Floppy disk.

This will create a startup disk.

Boot from this floppy.
At the A:\ prompt type

Format c:
press enter

follow the prompts.

After the format type

r:\setup.exe
press enter

this will start the setup from the CD.

Did you make the bootdisk from the file above?

Did you run it in windows?
You cannot just copy it to a floppy, it need to be run in windows.

If you're booting from the floppy then you should get to an A:\ prompt, not C.
