Adding signature in Outlook 2000

I'm having trouble adding a signature .gif file in Outlook 2000. It only allows me to add .rtf or .html file.. Would anyone here know how to add a .gif signature in Outlook 2000?

If word is used as email editor then you need to create the sig in word

1) Start Word
2) From the Tools menu, choose Options
3) Under the General Tab, click on Email Options button at the bottom right

* If not then in outlook Tools->Options->Mail Format->and select to not use Word as the editor ->Choose HTML as format the sig thing will become available
