I am having issues with my monitor/cpu(1). For a few days I was getting a messed up picture from my computer to where you could not understand or make out what was on the screen. Then it went to black. I thought it was the monitor and set it up on another cpu(2) and the monitor works fine. when hooked up to cpu(1), it doesnt give me the unable to connect to signal, but a black screen....can anyone help me with that is wrong.....

ps... it has an integrated video card and i tried to install a new one and it didnt fix the problem....any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for the help.....

You could have a faulty Display Adapter. Try changing the settings as follows:

Display Adapter:
1. To change the Display Adapter settings, right click the Windows Desktop and then click Properties.
2. Click the Settings tab and then click the Advanced button.
3. Click the Adapter tab and then click Change.
4. In the Update Device Driver Wizard click the Next button.
5. Click Display a list of all the drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want, then click Next.
6. Click Show all hardware.
7. From the Manufacturer list on the left click on the make of your Display Adapter. If you adapter is not listed, then choose Standard Display types.
8. From the Model listing on the right choose the model number of your Display Adpater. If it is not listed then choose Standard Display Adapter (VGA) for 256 colors or Super VGA for High color.
9. Click Next, then Next and then Finish.

Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

You may have to go back to Properties/Settings and move the slider to the right to give the best picture resolution.

I am unable to do any of the changes suggested. At this time I do not get anything on my screen but a black screen. I dont show any desktop icons, and desktop themes, no window screen page, or anything like that. If anyone knows how to fix this please help. thanks.

There is a chance that your memory might be at fault. If you have two sticks, try one at a time.Is your hard drive spinning and are the fan/s working.Try another cable.

Pancake,

You are a life saver. It was my memory stick. They both seem to be working now. I owe you big time. You saved me from throwing it out the window. Thanks again.
