how to encrypt passwords for .htpasswd

Hi,

I wanna ask that anyone knows that how can i automatocally generate encrypted passwords to put in .htpasswd files.???

Actually i have to create these files on the fly through php code ....jst like if an admin clicks on the link(a link to suspend user)then automatically the code creates a .htaccess file in that particular use 's directory and also write its contents...and then it creates an .htpasswd file and puts the username and password now this password is to be taken from database then it is to be encrypted then write in .htpasswd....

Now the files are generated automatically through code the problem arises that how to encrypt the password automatically without any kind of user interaction....

Can anyone helpme plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....???????
