My floppy drive keeps running like it is searching for a file, if I insert a floppy in the drive it will stop. Does anyone have know how to fix this?

Welcome to CTH:)

Did you recently open your case and plug in/take out the floppy cable? make sure the cable is in right.

Hi

This is happening to me ,only when I eject the floppy before the searching cycle is completed... as per yr description, and when cycle is completed,it stops.
Is that what is happening to you?

No, this is happening when I boot up the computer, open a program, save a file and shut
down, It doensnt seem to matter.

What o/s are you using?..in any case go to control panel>system>device mngr>floppy disk>and try updating the driver...this might fix it...can you clarify that this happens after boot up and when you decide to save on the floppy?

I am using Windows 98, and I should have worded it differently, It happens when Windows starts up, or I open up a program, or when I save a file to my hard drive, or when I close Windows, not just one particular function.
