Win ME Problems

I sure can use some help, the other day my children, were playing on the computer and I don't know what happened, but now on my screen the pictures are not like real pictures, but they look more like paintings, without full color, when I put 256 color in and restart my computer it does not take, it goes back to 16 bit, the USB mouse doesn’t work now and when I use restore to correct the problem, I get an error message, "….has caused an error in Kernell32.DLL" and the Restore does not work.

Hi. Welcome to CTH.

The screen problems are caused by an incorrect Display Adapter driver. You will need to re-install the correct driver to fix that. It sounds like your USB drivers and System Restore are AWOL as well. You may need to do an over-the-top re-install of Windows to correct these problems, unless someone else has some other ideas.
