Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right forum but i'll give it a go.

I'm wondering if anyone knew where I could get shoutcast or something similar hosted free of charge. It doesn't have to be shoutcast it can be something similar as long as i can get it hosted. I really don't want to pay anything.

Any help really appreciated. :)

For you to host shoutcast not only do you initially need a very good connection (for a decent amount of users the connection must be far greater than home packages) but you also need a large amount of bandwidth.

I haven't had any experience in internet radio but I would be very surprised if you could host a radio station that would allow more than 5 users at any one time for free, if at all

Hi there ,
Saw your post and decided to post a note. I am the owner of Hotwire Radio located at //Removed Spam Link
Getting started in Internet radio is simple if you want 10 or less listeners , but if you want to get any type of notice you will have to spend $$$$ for a website , Domain name , hosting a stream that allows more than 10 people.
My station holds up to 60 people right now and I may have to upgrade cause once you start getting up to your limit....the buffering begins and people wont listen to that long. You also have to pick your genres carefully and make sure your going to attract the listeners which involves a ton of advertising , whether it be by free ads or word of mouth or travelling to a hundred million chat rooms and getting the word out. Thats why I decided to go all genres...so I can offer something to everyone.
In short , its a lot of work unless your doing it just for local friends . We broadcast to over 60 different countries right now.
Now if your interested in being a DJ and doing a show and thats all , I possibly can help you. We have a couple of openings for folks that just wanna get on air and have some fun and do a show. You can contact me if interested.
Good luck whatever you choose
