Big lump of things on my hard drive - delete??

I have recently discovered that my hard drive is just about full to the top!! I have a 40GB drive with only 3GB spare. I have found that when I explore my C drive there is a folder called '__eetemp' that contains 360 DAT files totalling a massive 24GB. Are these important and can I delete them safely to free up some space? I think they are to do with a programme called 'Evidence Eliminator' which was a trial programme I no longer use. Please can someone help me and advise if these are removable I have removed the above programme using 'Add/Remove Programme' but they still remain

Locked files: Evidence Eliminator™ can delete "Locked" system files like the index.dat cache files of Internet Explorer. These files are renamed to .TMP files in the \__eetemp\ folder on each drive and cleaned during the reboot procedure.

Go ahead and delete them but dont do it in one hit. Your Recycle Bin might have problems coping with that volume. :)

also a registry cleaner such as ace utilities will go through your computer and find all stray temporary or backup files that is not needed anymore. You can also go to your add/remove and remove any programs you do not need anymore. Also if you do not want to use a cleaner, delete the files in your restore folder and start from new. These files can take up alot of space.

Thanks for the advice guys I have now deleted these files and everything seems fine at the moment and now able to enjoy the extra needed drive space!

hi, i also have the __eetemp folder on my computer and i only have 1% space left on my computer so the whole thing is really slow. When i try to get into the __eetemp folder to delete the stuff inside it just goes to that page with the searching flashlight and eventually it stops responding and i have to stop it. So i can't get into the folder and i delete the whole thing at onve, so what do i do? PLEASE HELP!!!!
By the way i uninstalled evidence eliminator already, does it have to be installed in order for me to delete te folder
