hi

wondering if anyone could shed some light on this problem. whenever i try and run scandisk on my comp it continually restarts until finally after 10times displays the message that scandisk cannot run due to a program continually writing data to the harddrive. i use to combat this by restarting in safe mode and running it from there but now that has ceased to work with same problem.

I use ctrl+alt+del to close all running applications except systray and explorer but that doesn't work either. I don't have antivirus running nor any download managers or anything like that.

Any ideas coz it driving me nuts. Defrag fails because of the same problem.

cheers

Are you on broadband? Disconnect your cable/DSL modem and then try in safe mode. Also disable any screensavers.

Have you run updated AV to eliminate that possiblity?

Try: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm

or http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp

for a free online scan. Also download, update and then run Adaware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

and Spybot S&D http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/index.html
