what would you use to connect to a lan

ok hers what I want to do
I have a LAN connection here and I want to connect through my lap top (this is hypothetically)
at my friends house, using a dial up connection, I already have internet sharing enabled.
so what do I need to be able to see the internet from the dial up connection,I can dial up and see my harddrive now, but cant connect to the internet?

Do you have a network cable ran to your friends house, or are you dialing into your computer at your house?

i would be dialing in,and thats where I dont know how to get it to connect

If you are dialing into that system, it will have to have another modem.

It will need one to dial out to the net, and another to accept the incoming call.

Then you should be able to share an internet connection.
