Grasping at Straws

I guess it never hurts to ask. Just rebuilt my PC with XP Pro and installed an Nvidia Geforce 6800 ultra with latest reference drivers. I have 1.5 gb ddr ram and an Athlon XP 3000+ processor on a Biostar Nvidia Nforce 2 board. Anyway, I just reinstalled a personal favorite (which got terrible reviews and most people say stinks, but I like it), Frank Herbert's Dune published by Dreamcatcher games. It plays fine but the color looks like something from a sixties acid trip-- really psychedelic. Any suggestions on whats going on. Also, I have the absolute latest drivers for all my hardware including direct x 9.0c. Sure hope I get a nibble! Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome to the forums.
Got a couple of supposedly rubbish Dreamcatchergames Adventure titles myself. No shame in that

I bet this is the fist time you've tried to run Dune under Windows XP.
This game is no longer even mentioned at the Dreamcatchergames website but they make some pretty clear statements about their support for their old titles in WinXP:
Quote:
(Windows XP? Read our XP NOTICE)
Unless otherwise noted, DreamCatcher titles are not supported under Windows NT/2000 or Windows Emulators. Also, DreamCatcher titles may not perform optimally while being played on laptops and, as such, cannot guarantee 100% compatibility. If a game is not listed, these are released after Windows XP and are fully compatible.
You could TRY running it in Win9x compatibility mode but I think it'll still suck. Other thoughts - try tunring DOWN the graphics accelaration on the vid card.
