I was trying to install Mac OS 10.2 on an iMac (it had 8.6), and the install froze. I pulled the plug, and now the mac won't turn on again. I am an advanced pc/linux user, but know next to nothing about macs. please help!

I'm not sure this would help your power problem, but I don't think you can go from 8.6 to OS X. I think you need to have 9.2.2 on there first. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Actually, you should be able to install OSX on any Mac with a built in USB connection, regardless of what OS it's currently running.
However, none of that matters with the no power issue. The OS will not effect the power supply in that way. A more likely scenario is that you damaged the power supply when you unplugged the Mac while it was running with a power spike or something. It's hard to say. But the OS won't effect power, just boot sequence.
What exactly do you mean by "Won't turn on again", haimeltjbfg? Does it power up? Does the monitor start to show something? Do you hear the boot chime? I need exact detail of what does happen when you try to boot in order to help.
