I need to know if anyone can help me. I have a HP pavillion computer operating on ME. About a week ago my computer started pretty much dying. When i logged on i found out that i could not use my messengers. My yahoo will log in but all my messeges come blank. I can get into my email accounts but i can not change, such as sendin or deleting emails. When i go to use my shortcuts it says searching for files. I cant use my Norton anymore or things such as my media player. Ive tryed reinstalling but i have problems gettin into most websites and i cant download anything. When i got into my computer my c drive and my control panel say that their are objects in them but the screens are blank. I tryed to do a system restore but yet again the page comes up blank. So the other day i gave up and decided to reformatt. Of course it wont work. The recovery screen never comes up. Ive went in and changed my BIOS to boot from the cdrom. My main problem is i dont know ANYTHING about computers. And what i do know isnt helping. Everyone i know has tryed fixin it and have no clue whats wrong....Does anyone have any ideas or is my computer beyond help. Yes, ive also done many virus scans and spyware scans and all come up totally clean. There hasnt been anything new downloaded on the computer in months and its been running fine. If u can help PLEASE let me know....Thanks

Hi Krystal,
You know enough to access the BIOS ;)
IIRC, the HP recovery CD (first of 3) is bootable. Were you able to boot from it when you changed your boot order? If not, you may have to change the BIOS to floppy first and use a boot floppy. Select 'with CD-ROM support', watch closely to see what drive letter gets assigned to your CD-ROM (usually one higher than you're used to), and manually start the recovery. I'm sure you're aware, but the recovery CDs will return your computer to the same configuration it had when you carted it out of the store.

I'm glad it was an easy fix, if not an obvious one.
Thanks for telling us what worked.
