I have a windows 2000 box at home connected to an internal network and to the internet through a cable modem. I also have access to work through a VPN connection. Here is the problem. When I connect through VPN and then disconnect after I have finished, the system disconnects from my network card too so I have no network connection. I have to re-boot to re-establish the connection. IPCONFIG / renew does not fix the problem either. I have a friend who is experiencing the same problem on two other boxes with a ADSL connection. Does anyone know what I (we) can do to remedy this problem?

The only software being used for the VPN came with Win2000. went
into "Make New Connection" and selected "Connect to a Private Network
through the Internet (VPN)" and entered the hostname, etc.

When you connect through a VPN, packets are by default routed to the default gateway on the remote network of your VPN connection. That is how it is designed. As far as I know there isnt a way to fix the problem using the vpn software with win 2000.
