We have a lab in our elementary and the 1st and 2nd graders are starting to learn about logging in. The problem is that by the time they start typing in their password the login screen goes back to Ctrl+Alt+Delete. I'm just wondering if there is anyway to increase the time frame between when someone origianally presses Ctrl+Alt+Delete to when it goes back after a username and password arn't quickly entered?

Welcome :)

How long is it taking?
Only thing I can think of at the moment is if the screen saver / power management is set to a low setting.

They have approximately 15 seconds from the time they originally hit Ctrl+Alt+Del to when it goes back to the original Ctrl+Alt+Del screen. We have the screen savers set at 30 minutes and the only thing we have set for power saving is that the screen will shut off after an hour. No sleep mode or hibernation. Thanks.

The problem is that the logon screensaver timeout(which is not the same as the screensaver you set once you logon) is probably set at about a second.

You need to open the registry (regedit) and goto the following location:

[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop]
you should have a string of 'ScreenSaveTimeOut' right now its probably set to 1 or some low number, that number is the amount of time in seconds that it takes the screensaver to load, jump it up to like 600

OR

Since it is small children, why not remove the requirement to actually press CAD and just have the logon box there. All you need to do is open control panel, goto users and passwords and on the second tab there is a setting to disable the requirement for CAD.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did go through the entire lab and just disable the C.A.D. requirement for them and have added the regedit to my notebook. Thanks again.
