Hello all!

I'm not too networking savvy yet but I'm tryin to get there http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif Here's my question:

What is the advantage of Telnet? I know win2000 comes with a Telnet Server...why would i use this? What advantages are there? Also, i've heard of telnetting into print servers...what can i accomplish using the telnet command that i can't accomplish using GUi admin tools. Thanks in advance!

lol! thanks. I couldnt figure out why Telnet mattered in a pure MS environment, glad you confirmed it didn't have much use. So, basically its useful in a UNIX type environment right? How do you set up permissions and stuff using Telnet? Do you assign perms based on group memberships like you do with ACLs in an NT environment? What interface do you use to assign these rights?

aha! i didn't know that the Windows version of Telnet was different from any other Telnet. How would i go about getting a "robust" version of Telnet. And would it be compatible with Windows then? Send me those screenshots Dam! Thanks http://www.cybertechhelp.com/ubb/smile.gif
