I have a specialized font that I need to convert from .pfa form (ASCII Text) to .pfb form (Binary). I actually have a .pfb (binary) version of this font, but it is not recognized by any application that uses PostScript fonts, including TransType. The .pfa version works fine with the forms designer application that I am currently using, but the newer versions of the same application need the .pfb version of the font. I know that there is a pfa2pfb utility available for Unix/Linux, but I have not been able to find any information on exactly how to use this to convert my font. If anyone has any suggestions on how to convert this font, I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Is this (http://fontforge.sourceforge.net/) what you are looking for jdc2000?

I have seen that site in previous searches for solutions to this problem, and it looks promising. It also looks to be quite a time-comsuming process. Since I really need to get this problem solved, I'll give it a try. I'll let you know how it goes. Meanwhile, if anyone has any other ideas or sources for font conversion services, any additional suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

OK, good luck and I hope someone else has an easier solution. :)

Update:

I used the pfa2pfb Unix / Linux program to convert the font. The forms design program was then able to install it, and create a preview page for the characters set. Unfortunately, I still was not able to actually use the font on text and print it. However, progress was made. If necessary, it may be possible to re-create the font using a font editor now. Any further suggestions are still welcome.

Thanks.
