XP vs. ME

Can I load Windows XP Servce Pack 2 over Windows ME? Do I have to do anything special? It has to be really easy to do or else I won't risk it. I have no problems with ME but I can't load MS Office 2003 on my machine unless I upgrade the OS.

I guess I misspoke. I believe the CD I have has the full Windows XP including Service Pack 2. Does that make a difference?

Hi,

You can upgrade Me to XP, but I would suggest that you do a clean install.

This means to format the drive to wipe off Windows ME, then install XP.

You can format via the XP Setup after choosing New Installation.

Why would you even consider using P2P software to download and official Microsoft Product which is free to download on their website.

We do not condone that and we will not help you with problems with illegal software.

I am referring to Kattmans suggestion of downloading a copy of the WIndows XP Operating System.
That is illegal.

Service Pack 2 is free and is available to download from the Microsoft website and available on CD.
