Missing Plug-In For MIME Type "application/x-oleobject"

Using Mac OS 10.3 and Internet Explorer - I am trying to open a video email message from a friend. The video message was recorded on a PC with a Logitech Quickcam - the page loads but the video itself will not play.

This error message comes up:

Safari cannot find the Internet plug-in.
The page “Comcast Video Mail Player” has content of MIME type “application/x-oleobject”, but you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type. A plug-in should be available on this page:
http://activex.microsoft.com/activex...ion=5,1,52,701
Do you want to open the page?

I click "Go" and when taken to the website, a download begins for nsmp2inf.cab - does this only work for Windows? or where do I put it?
I don't know what to do - I just want to be able to view video messages!

Please help - thank you!

It does look like a windows-only plug in. Sorry

You replied to this posting telling the complainant that the .cab plug-in looked like a Windows only file. The next question is... is there a plug-in for OS 10.3 or 10.4 using Safari as browser that allows Safari to run the video files that, when the MIME plug-in is not present in Safari, generate that error message quoted above? I once read that Flip4Mac WMV installed will run Windows Media streams within Safari. Has this been done successfully in your experience?

I love Flip4Mac. Use it every day and it runs seamlessly. I highly recommend it.

I can not say specifically if it will play your video files. But I have yet to find a PC-only wmp file that Flip4Mac does not play with OS 10.4.x and Quicktime Pro 7.
