Word file doesn't open

Hello,

I'm using XP Professional with OfficeXP. Sometimes when I get an email, through our Microsoft Exchange, which has an attached Word file, I can't open it directly. I have to right click it and save it in my Word files, then go into Word and open there. However, sometimes nothing works, and I can't open the Word file at all.

Are you sure it is a word file? Did you try importing.

Hi Dan,

Yes, I'm sure they are word files. Not sure what you mean by import. Do you mean when an attached Word file comes into my Outlook, I should import that into Word?

That may work if not a word file but you said you were sure it was a word file. Was the file created with the same version as what you are trying to open with? Any formulas or scripts inside of the file?
