Internet Connection help

My cable modem is in pefect working order so far as appearences are concerned, plus I am able to 'ping' my computer and it shows a response, yet the other day I simply lose the ability to connect to anything online, I have tried removing the ethernet card and re-installing it but still nothing...any suggestions would help me greatly.

do you have the connection back now? or does it come n go?

Actually I lost it a few days ago and have yet to get it back, after trying uninstalling the card and reinstalling it, resetting the cable modem, yadda yadda...still nothing...currently im at work, the only place where i CAN get a net connection lol
