I am having a problem with my Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC when I tried to run the NIC test it says that it can't perform the test test because it doesn't have a valid address. In Properties under the advanced tab when I highlight Network Address the Not Present button is checked. I can check value which I assume is the address; how do I find the value (address) I should enter here. Currently I am connected to my Linksys BEFCMU19 Etherfast Cable Modem with USB by USB port. Please help

Do you need the IP address or the MAC address?
What OS are you using? To find your MAC address on Windows 9x and Windows ME machines, click Start > Run, enter winipcfg, and press Enter or click OK. In the IP Configuration box that appears, the "Adapter Address" is your MAC address. IMPORTANT EXCEPTION: If the Adapter Address says 44-45-53-54-00-00, that is not your MAC address, it is a dial-up adapter address! Click the down arrow beside the top line and choose the description of your network card. Your MAC address should appear in the Adapter Address line. Windows NT/2000/XP 1. Click Start > Run and enter cmd. 2. When the command-line window appears, enter ipconfig /all at the prompt. You should see a listing that will include your MAC address, which will be labeled "Physical Address", and Network Card Model, which will be labeled "Description" 3. To close the window, type exit and press the enter key. You can run the ipconfig /all from a Command Prompt window in Windows 2000 |
